What is globalEDGE™?

globalEDGE™ is a global business knowledge web-portal that connects international business professionals worldwide to a wealth of information, insights, and learning resources on global business issues. Serving as a gateway to specialized knowledge on countries, cross-border business transactions, and cross-cultural management, globalEDGE™ responds to a real interest expressed by an increasing number of global business professionals. It also creates a virtual community of both executives and academics with like interests.

Who is behind globalEDGE™?

The globalEDGE™ knowledge portal is a project of the Michigan State University Center for International Business Education and Research (MSU-CIBER). MSU-CIBER was designated as one of the pioneer National Resource Centers in international business by the U.S. Department of Education in 1990. Its mission is to provide world-class education, research, and assistance to businesses on issues of importance to international trade and global competitiveness.

What can I find on the home page?

The globalEDGE™ home page is divided into four areas:

1. The log-in area on the top of the page, where registered users can enter their username and password in order to obtain access to the online course modules, globalEDGE Network, and other areas of the web site. Users who have not registered yet can do so by clicking on the "Register" link that is available in the log-in area. If you would like to be automatically logged-in every time you visit the globalEDGE™ site, you can select the "Remember Username and Password" option after you enter your information and before you hit the "Login" button.
2. The menu and sub-menu bars, which are used to navigate the sections of the site. Once you click on one of the menu items its title will turn light blue and you will be taken to the corresponding section. In addition, the second-level menu titles can be seen by hovering over any of the main menu items.
3. Below the menu bars, you can find selections from different sections of globalEDGE™. Once you click either on the icon next to the description or on the "Go to…" or "More…" links you will be taken to the corresponding section. Please note that you will then be navigating a sub-menu item. In order to identify which section you are in, look for the yellow title on the menu and the black title on the sub-menu.
4. On the right hand side, you can find the Quick Poll box, where you can share your opinion about important issues with the rest of the globalEDGE community. You can select an option by clicking on the circle next to it and hitting the "Submit" button and view the results.

Who has access to all of the resources?

1. All globalEDGE™ users (registered and non-registered) have free access to all sections of the site except the Diagnostic Tools Section. Further information regarding accessing Diagnostic Tools will be available soon.
2. If you wish to receive our free newsletter, then you need to become a registered user.

How do I register with globalEDGE™?

You may register by clicking on the "Register" link in the log-in area that is found on the Main Page. The link displays a short registration form that you fill in. The form has a "Registration FAQ" link to help you with any questions you might have.

What are the benefits of registering with globalEDGE™?

Only registered users can receive our free newsletter and access our online course modules in the Academy section.

Does registering with globalEDGE™ cost anything?

NO, registration is absolutely FREE.

What happens to the information I provide while registering with globalEDGE™?

We only use it to analyze the globalEDGE™ audience to improve the service we provide to our users. The information remains private and is never shared with any third party. For more information, please read our full privacy policy, available through a link at the bottom of every page on the site.

I have forgotten my password. Do I have to register again?

No, if you forget your password, it can be emailed to you. Just click on the "Register" link in the log-in area and click where it says, "If you have lost your password, click here". Enter your email address and name and your username and password will be mailed to you.
